Root Nook Color Root Problems

Totalled

Lurker
Hey, how's everyone doing this fine evening... Well... Not for me.

I bought a Nook Color on Sunday for personal use. Read some books, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac etc. Well. I hated how there was no android Market. So I looked up a tutorial online on how to root a Nook Color on 1.2. I followed (I cannot post the link) tutorial. The tutorial on XDA is called "[NC][1.2][1.3] ManualNooter 4.6.16" I used 8gb_clockwork-3.0.2.8 as the package installer and manualnooter-4-6-16. All was mighty fine and good after the root. Installed a couple apps. Browsed the internet. Updated the apps in Market...... Then I turned it off. I then turned it back on. It would boot up to saying "Nook Color" then only "Nook C" in an endless loop. I have tried rooting this damn thing 3 times. It always happens. Now. I'm thinking that when the ROM Manager updates that is causing boot locks. Am I correct? Please help. I need this as my cheap tablet (I have a Galaxy Tablet).

If you do the 8 failed boots thing, it should eventually do a factory reset to whatever version of B&N firmware it shipped with, and you can try again. Be sure to use the correct ManualNooter versions for the version of B&N software you're running. The procedure for 1.4.1 is different than for 1.2 or 1.3.

I've got a thread with info on how to root 1.4.1, and Colchiro has a general guide to rooting that would be good places to start.
