Root Nooting Nook doesn't work

Has anyone been able to make the nooting routine on the Nook Color work? I went through the process twice with Version 1.2.0 and the Version 1.3.0 upgrade of the software with the same result. I was able to load the Android apps, but on the 2nd or 3rd re-boot the Nook Color hangs on the banner. My primary objective was to be able to use the Kindle Android application, as most of the books that I am interested in having on the reader are not available in ePub format via Barnes & Noble or other ePub sellers. However, it looks like B&N have intentionally sabotaged the reader if you load Kindle. Not a big surprise, but looks like I wasted $250. I would have gladly purchased the e-Books through B&N. I particularly lliked the idea of being able to add a large memory card instead of relying on the cloud to store via the Kindle Fire, but looks like that's what I'm going to have to do. Any want a brand new Nook Color cheap?

Having some trouble myself on a recently acquired new-out-of-the-box NC. Tried the method on XDA. Running MN 4.5.18 I can get through with issues like others have seen, but when I MN 4.6.x it just loops on the color nook color logo.

Mine came with 1.3 OOTB. Tried "downgrading" and that didn't work. Tried repartitioning to no effect. Tried also removing Air and Flash completely thinking that they were problematic (as others have found) and it still isnt' working.
