Normal Battery Drain?

Hey Guys,

I just bought a new SGS2 4G from Virgin Mobile (It's same model as Sprint's Epic 4G). When my phone is sitting idle it is draining battery at 3-4% per hour. I don't have any apps or widgets running. My screen brightness is set to lowest(shouldn't even matter when it's off). I even have my CPU under-clocked at 500MHz. Is this normal drain rate? How much drain do you see?

That's about what I get with data on; with data off it drains at closer to half that. Of course if I'm actually using it a fair amount it can be dramatically higher. The screen is a major power drain, even at the lowest brightness setting.

Aside from screen brightness, and weather and social networking apps syncing automatically instead of on demand.. it could be the CPU setting.

Have you had the S2 long enough to know if the battery drain was occurring prior to the CPU tweak?

Lower CPU speeds can cause resource strain on some devices as the system seeks to satisfy program and associated service demands. The default CPU settings are arrived at in labs by techs who seek to optimize things.

Changing those settings is often risky going up to faster speeds, and often frustrating going down to lower speeds because the system now has to "wait in line" for things during the chain of events that lead up to proper operation of programs, etc.
