Help Not connecting to Computer!

EDIT: SOLVED - Check the Last 2 Posts!

Hello everyone,

I cannot get my Intercept to connect to my PC.

I googled it, and it seems to be a common problem.

The only fix I heard was trying a different cable, and I tried one, with no luck.

I dual boot with 7 and XP and had no luck with either.

When I plug it in, the phone vibrates twice, but nothing else.
At first, windows said it was an "unrecognized device", and now it just ignores it completely.

Anyone have any luck with this?

Have you tried using the rear usb ports? Some PCs have different voltages for the front and rear. Not sure about XP but using the rear worked for me on my win7 PC.

Almost Found a Solution!

Found this on another forum:

Well this didn't work on two computers (and three OS's), so I figured it had to be the phone. I turned it off, unplugged it from the USB to make sure it had no power still, pulled the battery and re-inserted the SD Card, turned it back on and voila... it works. Not sure if reseating the SD card did anything... but whatever :)
I tried this, and plugged it in. Drivers instantly installed (windows 7, 64-bit), and it shows up under 'Computer' as 'Removable Disk H:', but it's ghosted out! The device is recognized as 'SAMSUNG_Android' under 'Devices and Printers', but I can't transfer any files.

So close! Will update once I find any solution.

Solution Found!

It seems that these quotes are actually from a different section of this forum, however, referring to the Samsung Moment. They work the same exact way for the Intercept.

First I uninstalled the drivers using this program:

Here is that app for viewing and editing USB drivers on your PC/Laptop....

USBDeview - View all installed/connected USB devices on your system

And yes Adrift, you are right PC Studio is an app for the older Samsung phones. It will be uninstalled shortly. Thanks.

Then I followed this:

1. Disconnect USB Cable from Moment
2. "Unmount" the SD card via Settings menu, but do not physically
remove.
3. Power down the Moment by holding down the right hard button (red)
4. Uninstall the driver on your PC. Use USBDview.exe -works exceptionally
well
5. Power up our Moment
6. Reconnect the USB cable
7. Your PC should then re-install the driver
8. USB notification should appear at the top left of your Moment screen
9. Drag down the Notification window with your finger
10. Mount the USB card
11. On your PC, a pop up window should appear with a list of actions.

This is really another way of doing what I did before.

The key is that you will get a notification in the top left of the screen saying "USB CONNECTED"

Make sure your NOT dumb like me (:D), and be sure to drag it down. Then click on the notification and you can "mount".

Finally!

can you post what usb drivers i am suppose to uninstall mabye a pic even i am having
a hell of a time getting this to work ugh and thank you also i do not have a Moment
i have vm samsung

I have this same problem. Anyone else have a solution?
Yes, try this:
Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
Shut the computer down.
If a laptop remove the AC adapter from the wall, and remove the laptop battery. If a desktop, just disconnect AC power.
Wait a few minutes.
Re-install battery and AC adapter if a laptop, or AC cord if a desktop.
Power up the PC.
Wait a minute or two.
Connect your USB cable.

If this doesn't work, go into device manager, select each USB Root Hub one by one, and disable Power Management for each.
Follow the above instructions again.

I have found this to work on a high-end laptop. I suspect the micro-controller for the USB chips get into a funny state that interact poorly with the operating system. Taking all power off the motherboard seems to reset the port controllers.

Hope that helps.

There is no driver necessary if all you want to do is use the phone's SD card as an external flash drive. The drivers are for tethering (not allowed under VM agreement) or if you want to use a sync program for Outlook or Thunderbird, like MyPhoneExplorer where a USB Modem driver is required.

BTW, you do not need a USB connection to send and receive files to the phone's SD card. Download SwiFTP server from the Market to your phone, and run FileZilla or another FTP client of your choosing on the PC. Then use FTP for bi-directional file transfers over WiFi.

Once you open that program there's only one driver there, and it has the word "android" in it. There's really no other one to choose from.

I got it to work with the Moment drivers, too. However, it doesn't quite work perfectly. For example, I haven't been able to connect with the ddms tool from the sdk. I'm running win7 64 home.

Dumb question - but i am assuming you guys are actually mounting the SD card from the phone? In other words, from the phone issue the command to mount the SD card after you connect the cable.

Hi guys!!
First post, I guess, since I had to register. I have an Intercept. Have had it since early this year. Running FROYO.
I USE pda Net and have a problem with the connection AFTER standby or hibernate. Then I lose the connection and get the "USB device not recognized" Message. I can fix this by shutting down and unplugging the computer, but that's a pain in the posterior. Has anyone else had this problem and solved it??

I've been trying for months with no luck.
TIA
