Root not connecting to play store and gmail

Hope I will get a reply on this.

For some reason I can`t figure out my Desire will not connect to play store or sync gmail anymore.

I am rooted using Mildwild GB CM7.
Added the codes so play store will not auto update itself so I can use Freedom.
Tried re installing play store 3.something and latest 4.xx and still does not work.

Wifi and through mobile data both don`t work.

Please help

Clear data for gmail & play through settings via manage applications.

If that doesn't work try clearing dalvik cache & cache via recovery.

I already tried clear data and I don`t know why but I did not think about dalvik cask

Well I got it working.
It was freedom that was giving the problem.
The last time before I started having the problem instead of closing the app like normal I did a force close by long pressing on the back button.
I went back in freedom and it started working again so closed it with the close button.

This is the proof right there that force close is not always the best or right way to close apps.

Question: would clear dalvik cash have fixed this problem?

Now I'm in a boot loop.
Stupid me instead of just uninstalling updates on play store I went in recovery and re-installed play store 3.xx

Reflash your Rom via recovery (shouldn't need a wipe). That will restore your original system apps.

Then clear cache & dalvik cache.

Thanks for the reply. Did what you said. Ended up doing a advanced restore on everything (except Data) one at a time and tried rebooting after each. I lost a couple of apps but did not loose any data.

I don't care about the apps as long as I can boot and hopefully still have the app data.
It's a damn good thing I backup after each rom flash.

Last question: By reflashing the rom (not a restore) I'm pretty sure I would not have lost any app data but would I have lost anything else, like system settings or apps I installed?

No, app data including system apps is on the data partition. By flashing the room you are overwriting the system partition with the original system apps thus removing any changes you've made (kernels, theming, or any apps you've flashed via .zip).

Nandroid back ups are invaluable as are titanium backups. My next step would have been to do a titanium backup, wipe data (factory reset) via recovery, reflash the Rom & restore user apps with data via titanium.
