Not going to lie..camera is so-so.

nothing new with digital photo sensors... just more pronounced... there is a reason even profession work tools (adobe lightroom/photoshop/elements all have a very quick and easy white balance adjustment tool lol...

wonder if any of the aftermarket camera programs do it a little better...

I don't know but I'm sure HTC will fix this in an update

i know i've had cameras that you could set the WB automatically to the flash setting when it fired the flash...

here is some more playing around... incandescent lights

So fluorescent with flash seems the most accurate

yup although mixed with the incandescent light it does look like we still have a little magenta tinge... so who's going to make swapable gels so we can match our flash color to the appropriate ambient light? lol...

in the end the real solution is to play with white balance settings for a given setting if you want proper WB out of the phone w/ no post processing.

Well at least we know its def fixable

Do you mind doing a seperate thread with a tutorial for camera settings.

Maybe it can be our "first sticky" as these are definate improvements (unlike all the battery tweaks etc which are more subjective)..

I am getting fantastic results with the following settings.

Flash: Auto
ISO: 400
White Balance: Fluorescent
Sharpness: 0
Contrast: 0
exposure: -1
Saturation: -1

Mine is good for a smartphone camera. Remember that as with any dedicated digital camera it's about more than just who has the most megapixels.

Personally I prefer to carry a Lumix Compact Superzoom. It's no bigger than the Inspire, takes terrific pictures, and allows me to use the phone for it's primary purpose.

This helped tremendously! Images are wonderful now.

lol now we need to get a side by side with the phones mounted on tripods... 100% crop of course lol...

looks real good harlenm thanks a ton

looks like with those setting the iphone has better color representation but the inspire is much more vivid

Maybe maybe not.

In the iphone 4 there was cloud cover.

In the Inspire shot the sun appears to have been hitting directly into the shutter and washing out the colors. Also the sharpness appears to high in the inspire shot soo....

Take the sun out of the shot and lower the sharpness a tick and violia...the iphone no longer has better color representation either.

Just a guess but its a solid theory.

Yea I think that this tweaking will def find a good level of progress

The pictures were taken a few minutes apart, there was slightly more sun in the inspire pic. Both were taken from the an area in the shade with the sun behind the camera.

With the adjustments donalson suggested above my images are turning out pretty nice. This is in a room with absolutely no light. Just the flash at work. Very pleased!

, there was slightly more sun in the inspire pic..

Enough that it definately isnt an apples to apples comparison. (just look at the cloud cover in the sky in the iphone versus the inspire shot). ;) Nonetheless...the inspire pic is clearly the much better pic of the two...
