I brought my Droid into a VZN shop, told them a few problems (like not getting 4G, 3G or even 1x half the time - and I live 8 miles from Boston) - the tech ripped the battery out, got no signal whatsoever, and suggested a wipe. I'd expected this was coming, so I backed up everything of import and (since I had 3 hours to waste) allowed the wipe - still no signal. They documented the problem (but not the other 71 problems) and described the procedure for replacing the phone. So, yes, this is my 2nd (and last) Droid; same problems - plus a few more that I hadn't had (or didn't notice) on #1. The Droid is like cancer - you just learn to live with it. (And, yes, I have that, too).

Help Not Happy With The Droid Charge!!!

Wow. All this Hate!
I've had mine since the official release date (yeah the one that was delayed at least twice). I was the first person in line at the Verizon store at launch in Irving, TX. Geeky I know, but I was desperate. My previous phone Blackberry (ahem) Storm was on its last legs. Anyway, all I can do is speak from my experience with the Charge, and it's been pretty favorable. My phone has worked pretty seamlessly with a few minor flaws...most of them occurring before the Gingerbread update. Since then, I really can not complain too much.
Verizon's 4G LTE network was fairly erratic when the Charge debuted so it would go in and out of 4G in the beginning, but it has since stabilized with fairly constant speeds in the 15 - 20 MBps range. Not too shabby for a smartphone.
I may pull the battery once a month in order to soft reset it. The bluetooth system works well (again since the GB update) both with my Plantronics Savor M1100 ear piece as well as the Bluetooth inside my car (Infiniti).
Battery life in 3G lasts me well over 12 hours. In 4G areas, well...not as long.
I have no problem using the wifi hotspot both in 4G and 3G areas. I've been using the one that came with the phone. I didn't even know there was a better app in the market. I'll have to check it out.
Everything from the camera, texting, emailing, dolphin browser, skype work fine on my Droid Charge since Gingerbread. I also use a fair amount of apps from popular ones like facebook, angry birds, and espn scorecenter to not so popular apps like Educus ICD9, Epocrates, and Shiprack. They all work without a hitch and more importantly have not caused issues with the OS or excess battery drain.
And of course the most important function of a mobile device which can sometimes be overlooked by all the bells and whistles - making and receiving calls - again seamless with exceptional call clarity and little to no dropped calls.
I'm not 100% happy with the keyboard layout. I keep hitting the period key between words instead of the spacebar. And it probably isn't as snappy as some of its 4G LTE brothers. But for me those are minor niggles. Overall, I'm very happy with my Charge.
Mdeva, sorry to hear about your poor experience. Even sorrier to hear about your health. Perhaps for peace of mind's sake, you may want to just sell your Charge on ebay and invest in something that requires less hands on acumen. I hope I don't get peppered for saying this, but you might just need something that works right out of the box with little or no tweaking or stress....perhaps (again don't shoot the messenger) an iPhone?

Yeah, I know. I don't get it! I know 4 people, including myself, that have the Charge and none of us are having problems like what it described in this thread.
Of course, all 4 of us are rooted and rommed so maybe that is the difference. My Charge is great on battery life, great on signal strength, great on call clarity, has very few bugs or glitches, and is smooth and fast due to the rom I'm running.
People, if you hate the phone in its stock form, try putting a good rom on it (like what I'm running: Eclipse 1.4) before tossing the phone in the trash. This phone has been nothing but solid for me since putting a rom on it.
Make it 5 without these problems, and mine is rooted FP1 but stock otherwise. I have cleared out a lot of the bloat which means the free memory at all levels is good. From PC work, I do understand that just freeing up some memory can increase stability of a computer significantly.
I don't exercise some features, to be fair - Bluetooth, GPS for navigation (but I do use it for other things), mobile hot spot. I also make minimal use of local wireless networks, since the 4G where I live and travel has been superb and pretty much as fast as my home's FIOS. I hook up to the home network only to trade files or access specific devices. Otherwise, I'm 4G for all internet work.
Anyway, once we received the 2.3.6 build, I've been very happy with the phone.
