Not holding a charge

If a phone is not holding a charge what is the first thing to check/ replace?

I'm guessing battery but I know nothing LOL.

What is next most likely cause ?

The reason I ask is because I am thinking about buying a used MT3G to "experiment" with, from a guy who says it does not hold a charge. I haven't heard back from him yet to find out exactly what that means.

Seems like changing out the battery would be the simple answer. I would think you could take it to a T Mobile store and have them switch the battery out for you.

reread the email , it's "will not accept a charge" not will not hold a charge.

Same thing ? . Still no response from him , but it was the weekend . LOl

It's a lot more likely that the battery is fried than it is that the charging system is caput.

Alright. Thanks for the input. If I can get it cheap enough and it doesn't work oh well. I'll find something to do with it
