Not receiving calls while using data services

Hi, I'm new to android and just bought a samsung galaxy y duos. It's a dual SIM phone and I use data services in SIM 2 and use other one for calling, messaging etc. I don't receive any calls while using data services like play store, web browser, facebook chat, though the calls are for not the SIM in which I use data services. I often get complaints from my friends and family that they can't reach or contact me in whichever numbers I'm using. Please tell me if it is normal among android users or there is any way through which I can have it fixed. I had used nokia a smartphone before but never faced such a problem as this one. Thank You.

Some dual-SIM phones only have one cellular radio, presumably the Galaxy Y Duos is one of these, which means you can only use one SIM at a time. So if you're using data on SIM 2, it means SIM 1 is effectively turned off, and so can't receive calls. You'd have to get a phone that has what they call "both SIM active", i.e. it's got two cellular radios, and is basically two phones in one.
