Help Not receiving MMS

My phone started to not receive or send any type of MMS.

I asked my friend if she got a picture I sent her, and she asked me the same thing. Mine didn't send, and hers didn't reach my phone. I didn't get a notification. No "Downloading..." message. It's like they weren't sent.

Is there any way I can fix this without calling VM? I've had the phone for over a year now. After having a ton of problems the first week, I've learned to hate VM customer support.

Make sure mobile data and background data are enabled. Try go sms and see if it fixes your problems. I haven't had any problems with text or mms since I've been using go sms. Plus it has a ton of other nice features.

Another option would be Handcent. It seems to handle MMS with no issues and has a lot of features and is very customizable.

Actually, Handcent is what I use, I just didn't know that it would fix MMS like Go SMS does. Given the choice, I prefer Handcent.

I have not used GoSms so I can't say which I would prefer. I don't have any problems with MMS other than the lousy 3g signal at my house. I might need to look at GoSms.

I don't understand why I can not receive or send picture messages when WiFi is turned on, but I can in 3G. Can someone explain? Also the Go SMS and Handcent, if I download one of those it may let me receive/send pictures using Wifi or will this also be only in 3G? Just don't want to download another app. if not neccessary.

Thanks!

For whatever reason, all MMS messaging requires your 3G to be active. It's a limitation of the technology, and it doesn't matter what app you use.

MMS and SMS are both handled through the carrier. The 3g connection is handled by your carrier while the wifi connection is not. So, if you want to be able to receive a MMS message you will need to have the 3g data enabled.

I already use Handcent. I've found that I need to use the stock messaging app to send messages. It usually works fine, but it just stopped working
