Not recieving emails/notifications

Until yesterday I was recieving emails fine. The notification was showing up on the task bar like it should, with sound. Now nothing. I can go into the email widgets (?) and manually pull them up, but nothing happens automatically like it should.
Does wi-fi need to be on to recieve email? I usually keep it off to save battery charge. TIA

Personally, I never turn WiFi off on my device. I need it for certain application to work okay. You don't need WiFi on to get email notification, but you do need an internet connection.

I've noticed too...that I was getting some ghost notification alert on emails - then when I checked there isn't any new email. I would suggest that you clear data from the mail app. Since I did that, I haven't seen any ghost around. :)

Thanks, I haven't gotten any ghost notifications, no notifications at all. Although I did just get a few emails that are an hour old, and I did the the visual and sound notifications for them, so maybe problem solved?

Here's another thought. Is there something I should look for in the settings that could cause this to happen? I've looked through it a couple times (on both email widgets) and I don't see anything that would cause this to happen. Could it be a network problem and not a phone/Android problem?

Both the native email app and gmail should be set to sync at Settings > Accounts & Sync. Maybe it got accidentally unchecked somehow? :dontknow:
