Not showing texts

My phone is quite new, however I have a problem with my text messages. I can send texts and receive texts, however NONE of them will be displayed in the conversation windows! I can only view them in the notifications bar, and then they're gone. In the conversation it only shows texts from the past.

Is there any way I can sort this out? If I have to do some sort of reset, I would really like to keep my texts so is there any way this can be sorted without deleting my old texts?

(also, I dont have a micro SD card in my phone if that matters)

Did your device recently receive an update to the operating system? If so, your issue with sms could be linked to the sd card not being present.

I'd advise getting a quality sd card and then performing a factory data reset, whether your device has been updated recently or not.

You can back up what sms or media you have in several ways, the easiest being to connect to your PC or laptop via usb cable and transferring files. Be sure to have the latest Samsung drivers installed on the computer.

I have a similar problem with my samsung galaxy ace but with my one i had taken the battery out for four days when i went on a school trip and when i came home it would only display text messages in the notification bar and when i wanted to read them properly it would only display old messages. What do I do?. P.S i DO have a SD card.
