I have come across this a few times when working on the admire, and a few other phones. The problem comes with the system constantly trying to call a file that isn't there anymore. If you changed your shutdown.ogg or your shutdown animation in "/system/media/video/shutdown" then this is the problem that I had. My suggestion is to download and replace your files with the old stock ones that I have linked below. This for the most part, plus the permissions for them is the problem that I keep coming across.
- Download the files files below.
- Place the files onto your SD card.
- Open root explorer and navigate to "/sdcard".
- Switch to R/W mode in Root explorer.
- Copy the files to there proper location.
- Hold down on each image and file to show the files menu
- Select 'Permissions' to set permissions.
- Set the permissions for all files to 'RW-R--R--'
- Close Root explorer and Vuala. The problem is fixed.
And now you should be able to shut down your phone without pulling the battery. This is the only problem I have come across so far. It really is a permissions and file issue.. Go figure..
