Root Not Shutting Down [Fix]

Angablade

I have come across this a few times when working on the admire, and a few other phones. The problem comes with the system constantly trying to call a file that isn't there anymore. If you changed your shutdown.ogg or your shutdown animation in "/system/media/video/shutdown" then this is the problem that I had. My suggestion is to download and replace your files with the old stock ones that I have linked below. This for the most part, plus the permissions for them is the problem that I keep coming across.

  1. Download the files files below.
  2. Place the files onto your SD card.
  3. Open root explorer and navigate to "/sdcard".
  4. Switch to R/W mode in Root explorer.
  5. Copy the files to there proper location.
  6. Hold down on each image and file to show the files menu
  7. Select 'Permissions' to set permissions.
  8. Set the permissions for all files to 'RW-R--R--'
  9. Close Root explorer and Vuala. The problem is fixed.
And now you should be able to shut down your phone without pulling the battery. This is the only problem I have come across so far. It really is a permissions and file issue.. Go figure..
