I've noticed over the past few days when I'm at home, my Samsung Galaxy S4 on version 4.4.2 from Verizon won't send or receive any text messages if connected to wifi. It's never done this before. I have to disable wifi on the device in order to receive any texts. I cannot receive/send with the stock app or Textra. Everything else works - apps, phone calls, etc. But no texts. I do a lot of texting for work and personal so this is a bit of a pain when I'm home. Try explaining to your girlfriend you didn't respond for hours because of a phone issue, nothing else. My internet is through Comcast and is 105mbps, so I have plenty of bandwidth. All other wifi devices in my home work fine. It's just my phone stopped sending or receiving texts if it's connected to wifi. I turn off wifi and connect via cellular and the texts work again. Baseband version is I545VRUFNK1. Any ideas? TIA!

are you using stock messenger or hangouts? i noticed that sometimes hangouts can cause a issue. i tend to use hangouts for my messenger and merge the two. this seems to work best for me as i have issue normally at work where my cell cignal is limited
