Help Not the typical email question

I honestly don't know if this is an android question, an app question, or a gmail question, but after spending several hours over a couple of weeks, I'm more confused than when I started.
I want to filter email to my android phone, deleting email I don't want. Using a gmail account. But here is where I become lost. I WANT gmail from that account to show up on my PC, but I do NOT want it on my phone. I can create filters in gmail but deleted mail gets to neither the PC or phone. I can find how to filter emails on my phone but the filter is either read, unread, or starred.
Is there a way to filter email so it shows up on my PC but not on my phone?

Not that I'm aware of, no. Gmail filters are account-based rather than device-based; there's no way to filter based on how an account is viewed. Such a facility may be offered by an alternative email app however.

Slug and Hadron have it right. AFAIK the only way to do what you want, which is filtered email on the phone, unfiltered on the PC, is to leave email unfiltered in Gmail. Download all email and then have it filtered on the phone. That's how old POP3 email service would do it. However, I still wouldn't change Gmail to POP3 service, you would lose some other IMAP advantages, like push notifications. There's a certain irony to doing it that way because to get your desired result, you must download all the email to the phone, including the email you say you don't want on the phone. But that's the way it's gotta be get the end result you want.

And Hadron is right about Maildroid. It's the only email client I've ever seen that can do filtering and sorting of email on the device, like a desktop email client does, after fetching email, by defining filters (aka rules) by email addresses, keywords, etc. There is even a spam plug-in available for an extra charge.

No other clients I've seen support on-device filtering. This is because it's space, data and system-intensive to do it on your phone.
