any idea what he did that caused it?
sounds like a recovery screen but you didnt mention any lines of text.
can you put it in download mode?: power off phone, press and hold volume down and menu buttons. then while holding those hold press and hold power button.
if that works than you might be able to fix it with Odin. I or someone else here can find you a link to help you with that.
