not using a case? how's your camera lens?

I have a case and I dont particularly like using them. I want to go without it, but my concern is for the camera lens. It seems like it sits flush on any surface you like the phone down on.

for those of you not using a case, how is your camera lens holding up? Does it have any scratches?

The lens on a Note 3 is covered with glass. (I don't know if it's Gorilla Glass 3 or soft window glass, but it's glass, and looks like about $5 to replace.)

I have an iBlason case, but the glass over the lens still looks pretty unprotected.. But I don't drop muy phone down on a table without looking to see what's there. (I don't drop it at all, I place it down gently.)

I take some pretty tight closeups and blow them up a lot and, aside from the fact that I'm blowing them up a lot more than I should for a camera with this resolution, there's nothing showing from the glass. No dirt, no nicks and no scratches.

The lens on my old V551 (which has been treated more like a Bic pen than a phone) still takes clear scratchless pictures. And that's before Gorilla Glass, before umpteen pixel cameras and before I worried about my phone and my keys being in the same pocket. For years.

I have a 500mm reflecting lens for a Canon that has a scratch on it (it cost more than any cellphone on the market today, and a dollar was worth something back then), but that's the only camera lens I've ever had scratched. ("Had scratched" - and he paid for a new one.)

I take more care of my phone's battery than I do of its camera lens.

Personally, I think you should put, at least, a small case on it to protect the lens. I saw one of those drop videos, and the lens cracked when the back of the phone, hit the surface first. Also, I saw someone mention how there lens got scratched and dust under the lens because they didn't have a case.

I have previously not used cases and for the first 5 months with the S4 I didn't and my lens didn't suffer any damage at all. I am careful where I put my phone though.

I did buy a very thin TPU case in the end, not to protect the phone but just because I found the shiny texture on the phone a little difficult to get a decent grip on when my hands were dry.

I don't have a case on my phone and the lens is fine.

As per valorian, had mine for about 6 months. It's never been in a case and the lens looks perfect even under bright light.

My experience. I have never used a case that protects the camera. I keep my phone in my pocket and the cases on my phones tend to get scratched up a bit. 2 yrs on a Galaxy S3 and 9 months on my S4 = never had any scratches on the camera lens itself.
