Not using wifi

My experia play is using 3G over wifi.
Is there a way to force it? I can't even find a way to turn the 3G off.

Go to: Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Networks. Uncheck the Data Enabled Box to turn off mobile data completely. AFAIK it will prefer a recognized WiFi network when in range. (I always check the icon just to be sure) When I get home the Mobile Data icon switches to the WiFi icon and I'm automatically using my LAN.

Thanks. Do I need to turn the data back on every time I leave home or does it switch over?
