Not very impressed by invisibleSHIELD

Some of you who are complaining of bubbles and whatnot with the Zagg need to remember they take about 24-36 hours to "cure". All of the imperfections will disappear.

I told you guys the zagg protector was lame.

Not to mention its way to draggy, it's not smooth when you slide your finger across the screen.

that goes away. Only if I've been cleaning with harsh chemicals and my hands are dried and chapped is there drag. After a week or so it smooths out and the drag goes away.

I've got zagg shields on several of my products and it's true for all of them, the drag and bubbles work themselves out and then you've got a very very scratch resistant surface.

Also, and I don't know how this happened, but somehow my G1 is MORE touch sensitive after the zagg was put on.

I went to the local mall and had Invisible Shield installed at a Zagg reseller mall cart (they installed for $5 - well worth it) on the entire phone and it is working great. My finger glides smoothly on the screen and having it on the back gives it a texture and makes it less slippery.

I did not take the Zagg off because of lag I took it off because if I put it down on a dirty desk screen down, then it would get indented with any particles such as a bread seed or small crumb etc.. and it would stay there the rest of the day. It would smooth it out later but it did stay there. Also after I had seen the Scratch the Droid screen video I decided to go naked.

OK, first lemme say i have been using invisible shield since before they were bought out by zagg, about 5 years maybe? I have installed it on every single ipod, iphone, cell phone, etc since... I love it. its a 8itch to install, but way worth it for protection. That said... I got my droid, I bought 2 full shields (in case I screw up one of the installs) as I normally do for all my new toys. Jst TONIGHT I was putting it on and I have to say I am not very pleased.

First with the back of the droid being 'rubberish' i dont know if it makes sense to put it on.

Second, this is my first device with the super slick (scratch resistant) screen. Ipods, iphones, pervious winmo phones didnt have this. Putting the zagg shield on it seems a shame since it does add the orange peel effect. On top of that, the screen itself is so crisp and clear, it seems a shame to mar it in ANY way.

So, currently, I do have the zagg shield installed on the back of my phone, not the edges, not the screen. I like that it wont get scratched when I put it on a table. I had installed the front screen shield but removed it almost asap. I did have a piece of 'something' under it, but moreso, there were too many bubbles. and yes I know that it takes time to cure.

I dont really have a point, just sharing my experience. I am gonna try the phantom skin i think, just for the screen. I still have a zagg shield left so I figure its worth trying something new.

That I will never be able to answer because I will never , not even once ,ever use the device without a protector :p

sooooooooo TRUE :)

I STILL have the protector on it that came in the BOX from the factory (just cut off the tab so the corner would not keep coming up). Phantomzkinz arrived today, hopefully I'll have time to install em tomorrow night.

Not sure I like the prospect of leaving my phone off for even a few hours.... it's kinda become surgically attached to my hand, lol....

I agree with every sentiment here including not liking Zagg for the screen , Phantom Skinz are great for the screen, and I opted for the screen only on this device because I dont see the rubberized back needing anything more.

I ALWAYS cut the tab and use that film until my 'real' protector gets here :) lol.

Leaving it turned off for 24-48 hours is not an option for me the same as you. The best you can do is apply it right before bed and let it sit overnight. then you wake up to a shiny protected baby and can touch it all you want ;)

I'll have to look into the PhantomSkinz for the screen (though I'm tempted to automatically hate products that replace an "s" with a "z")...

First day yesterday going with the Zagg in the pocket. This product will without a doubt be removed and thrown away. I was absolutely astonished at how it managed to pick up (and won't let go of!) every microfiber of lint in my pocket.

I guess the only thing I've ever really worried about is the screen. Hell my previous phone (razr2) went a year and a half with not much more than the one gouge from a single bad drop.

I bought the zagg invisibleshield for just the screen, and so far I think it's great.

At first I had the best buy folk do it, but they left a bit of the shield overhanging the top, so when I got home I pulled it off and re did it myself.

The cut size is perfect.

A couple things i noticed though:

-it does make sliding your finger on the screen a bit less smooth
-there may be a very slight reduction in touch responsiveness
-you get a different sheen from the screen, a bit less impressive

That said, I'm a lot less nervous about putting the phone in my pocket or having some random folk play with it. The issues I mentioned aren't enough to make me want to remove it.

I won't be getting the invisible shield for the body though. I'm going to wait to see what happens with cases.

Well said. I'm still up in the air about keeping this thing on. MY install went perfectly and I've got no bubbles or anything of the like, but you do get somewhat of an "orange peel" effect as you called it. I can only really notice this when there's a glare on the screen though.

As of right now, I'm pretty set on keeping it on. It has done WONDERS for keeping smudges and oily marks off the screen. I'm actually shocked on how well it works in that respect. So for now it definitely stays.

Got Zagg shield yesterday, and spent the night in a dust free bathroom putting it on.
My only complaint thus far is that the pieces do NOT wrap around the corners. So every corner of my phone is uncovered. I don't understand why they were cut that way???

Those rubberized/soft touch materials actually get really worn out after a few months. You start to see little blemishes and imperfections especially if you ever set it down on a table that is dirty. I would actually recommend a body shield over a screen protector (although I have both).

I agree completely, the zagg shields i have used in the past didnt have this issue, meaning that they were very much precision cut to cover the WHOLE phone (previous phone was a winmo Samsung Omnia, shield for that was perfect.) My only guess is that they wanted to get a shield out ASAP and will come up with a better version in the future. This was the case with my first iphone.

I think you may be right. Since I have aplied the zagg shield to the phone already, I may keep it on the back to protect it, then throw the phantom on the screen. BTW, anyone notice that VZW has spare back battery panels/covers for sale? Not sure why exactly but for $5, I bought one, figured its always good to get a spare.... Enter your location

Quick question does Ghost Armor have the orange peel feel to it? I bought a InvisibleShield and for somereason with a micro fibre cloth it got scratched... I got it in on tuesday. Tuesday night it was done. Thank god I had the verizon ones too. I ordered a replacement will have it tomorrow. But I dont like the orange peel feel. So Ghost Armor?

I got zagg shields and vzw screen protector. Best of both worlds imo. No fit or sensitivity problems with either. Did you guys with sensitivity problems try adjusting it in settings?

Do NOT use the Zagg invisible shield on your screen! Its by far the WORST screen protector out there. The clarity is awful and the screen protector feels like rubber and grips your finger when sliding it around the screen. Not only is the Zagg shield not full transparent it also produces MAJOR Orange Peel across the screen which makes thins even worse.

Zagg invisible shield was designed for the BODY of devices, not the screens. The material used is NOT fully transparent and its a GLUE based application.

Silicon based non-adhesive screen protectors are the ONLY kind of screen protectors you should be buying.

Zagg invisible shield is thicker than silicon based protectors which can reduce screen touch sensitivity and on top of that its has a rubbery feel to it that grips your finger and prevents it from sliding around on the screen, its an adhesive GLUE based application which is why its so unclear.

The material has a rubbery feel to it because it was designed to cover the BODY of devices that are held in your hand so they wont slip out. This is the OPPOSITE of what you want on your screen.

Ive been using screen protectors for many years and this is by FAR the worse SCREEN protector out there. Dont get me wrong, Its a fantastic body protector just dont put that material on you screen!!!!

I have read the entire thread - I have seen a lot of rhetoric about Zagg, a couple of mentions of PhantomSkinz and a couple for Ghost Armor.

If I do this, I am not using the enclosed screen protector as the one from VZW works just fine for me. I want the body covered, though, to protect against scratches, etc.

My question is this - do any of these products cover the corners and edges of the case? Otherwise it seems kinda pointless - I mean, the broad sides are not as likely to sustain damage as much as the corners and edges, at least in my experience with previous phones.

What settings? There aren't any that I know of...

The vzw protectors had a sticker that said to adjust the settings, but now that I look, I don't see the settings either.

The invisible shield has stickers for the sides, but they don't overlap so it misses the corners. If you squigee it down good it'll cut down on the orange peel, but you'll still get some. The vzw screen protectors have zero orange peel and are fairly slick, but they're hard to put on right and don't cover the android keys.
