Help note 10.1 ps3 controller

Lurker
So, has anyone managed this yet? I have the usb/bt joystick app.... no root and wired it worked great the first time. Ever since then it will not detect the controller for more than 2 seconds, not enough time to get the bluetooth dongle to recognise it and certainly no good for the wired method. Has anyone got any tips on this specific to the note 10.1?

I think it is because the note 10.1 gives a high power usb device connected warning and closes the port..... any ideas if this is the case or a way around it? If it never worked at all then fair enough, but the fact it worked for the first time is frustrating to say the least.

Cheers guys

Ok, so i managed to splice 2 usb connectors together to power the duel shock from a laptop, but connect the bus lines to the note 10.1. This madeit work wired perfectly. I am able to pair to the bt dongle but as soon as i back out of the app one time a message came up at the top in large font fromthe usbbt joystick app saying something about my android device. I didnt read it in time was only there for .5 second. Can pair and map but will not stay connected...... maybe the developer can include this in the next update to supportnote 10.1. Although you will have to make or buy such a cable... does anyone know how to get in touch with the develpoer of usbbt joystick center?

Can I ask what games you can play on here with the PS3 controller, and how do you go about making this happen.

Thanks
Wolvie

First you need a USB OTG connector/adapter to plug in usb devices. I'm going to get the official Samsung one that includes the adapter and card reader. Not going to cost me anything since I have some gift cards lying around I never used.

Second a usb controller and finally a game that can natively support the controller. I think games using the Xperia Play controls would work. However, if you want it to work with all games, there's no way around it except to root the device.

Use the app usb/bt joystick center to use with emulators such as n64oid..... but in games like shadowgun, dead trigger the control is supported in app. As i say, i cannot get bluetoothe to work reliably, so you must make a cable as i described earlier and play wired. All the saame it works very well. By the way, my note 10.1 is not rooted

Im being abit dim here but if I have a Bluetooth controller can i not just connect it to the tablet and play games that way? then i can have it charging at the same time for those long lazy gaming days - lol.

also has anyone got it working with dead trigger and shadowgun without rooting? awesome games - gutted modern combat 3 aint compatible with the note 10.1, looks a top game that.

Iv brought an OTG cable to try it with my xbox controller - although iv got wireless controllers and will use the charge cable so not sure that will work but worth a go for how cheap the OTG cables are.

gaming on the tablets is alot better than i thought as it wasnt my intention to do it but with a controller it will take it to the next level - all we need then in multi player online gaming and some more games to choose from.

I'm a little confused, if I connect my PS3 controller to my note with the USB adapter, do I still need to root to get the controller to work with all the games?

I think if connected via USB, it would be recognized as a wired controller. Most wired controllers do not require root to use. However, dependent on device, you may need to root to get the necessary Bluetooth stack as stock may be missing some Bluetooth protocols.

You will need a third party app to get the controller to work with all games. Some games, however, do support controllers natively as they have built-in drivers within the app.

For sure, thanks. I'll just get the adaptor and see what happens. If I can get it to work with Mine Craft and Some emulators, I'd be happy.
