note 2 and nova launcher, with a question on bloatware

Lurker
I used the stock touchwiz for a while but decided to use nova launcher which I love. Here is my question.

When using another launcher like Nova, is the phone essentially still running two launchers? i.e. touchwiz and nova? Does this have an impact on battery life? If so, what is the "proper" way to run a secondary launcher?

Lastly, I don't want to mess around with rooting, so, is there anyway to remove/disable bloatware that Verizon put on to help increase battery life?

Thanks!

Running Nova in addition to touchwiz has no impact. Just make sure to remove any widgets from the touchwiz screens.

You can disable many of the apps in application manager.

Root and delete touchwiz and unwanted apps:beer:

I do the same thing but with T-mobile and have been checking the apps running in the background and have not found any indication of Touchwiz running that I don't want running. As for bloat ware I have gone into the app manager and have disabled several of the T-mobile added apps. I don't know if Verizon allows this or not but you could try. I think some of them you may not be able to disable but they won't allow you to delete them with out rooting.
