Help Note 2 keeps losing contact pics

This has started happening lately. I used the resizeable Contacts Widget to show my favorites and suddenly noticed all the pictures I have set for people have disappeared and in case they had any, replaced by their Google profile pics. If I try to set them again to my own photos, they soon again disappear or revert to Google ones.

I wonder if anyone has experienced this and knows solution?

Got some similar problem on the S3... Somehow the connected contacts seem to loose their connection... Might be sync related, but haven't been able to figure it out...
