Help note 2 problems

my phone has worked fine all day today, late this evening i was messing around and was checking for updates, i saw that i had a new phone up date, so i went ahead and installed it.

now after the update the phone is stuck in i guess its called bootloop where it just flashes the galaxy logo over and over.

so if anyone could help me out that would be awesome, thanks in advance.
 
On the assumption that you are not rooted it may be worthwhile trying

Kies / Tools / Emergency Firmware Recovery.

Let us know how you get on.
 
Ok sorry guys, i bought the phone used off of craigslist. the guy didnt say if it was rooted so i assumed it wasnt. so after doing some research im thinking that it was rooted and the guy didnt tell me so when i did the OTA it put it in a bootloop.

i didnt have it long enough to hook to the computer to install the drivers so when i hook it up now it doesnt do anything, just powers up and starts the bootloop.
 
oh and yes ive pulled the battery numerous times. the only thing i can get it to do is go into odin mode?? and on the last option in it system whatever it says custom. thats why i think its been rooted.

ok bare with me cause i know absolutely nothing about rooting a phone. i have read a lot about doing it and watched alot of videos on youtube and it looks pretty straight foward.

i can get the phone in download mode, cant remember of the top of my head but the last option in there says (custom) this makes me think its been rooted, to what i have no idea i bought the phone used and the guy never said it was rooted. so i thought the phone was stock and when i did the ota it got stuck in a bootloop.

ok now i have downloaded Odin but and i think the latest drivers for the phone, but i can get Odin to reconiize my phone, and that is where i am now.

do you guys have any more tips or advice to help, causei really want to use the phone what little i did get to use it, it was awesome.

My Note 2 is picky about the cable used to connect to my PC. The only one that works for me is the one that came with the phone.

Good. I'm glad you're up and running.
Make sure to always make a nandroid backup of your current ROM before switching or making big changes.

With the phone powered off, boot into recovery by pressing volume up + menu + power.
That will bring up either CWM or TWRP whichever one you have installed.

From there choose backup, choose a name for the backup, and let it run. Afterwards you can boot system.
