Help Note 2 rebooting itself and going unresponsive

Hi there,

I've had my note 2 for about 4 months and really like the device, however in the 3 weeks or so it's started acting up. It randomly reboots itself, I can see no rhyme or reason as to why. I can be sat watching TV or be asleep and all of a sudden I hear the boot up music and the samsung logo is displayed, the system up time confirms the device has indeed rebooted itself. It's hard to say how many time a day this is occurring as I might not always know it's happened.

It's also going unresponsive at times with the only fix being to remove the battery. It doesn't seem to happen when I launch any particular app.

I've performed a factory reset and run the phone without any apps downloaded and it still does it, so I don't think it's anything I've downloaded.

Phone is unrooted.

Has anyone else heard of this behavior on a note 2? Is there anything I can run in the background that might be able to log what is causing it to reboot?

If I can;t solve the problem I'd like to have as much info to hand before I go back to amazon/samsung.

Many thanks

Nick

Ive had my phone for a while now and whereas previously it was perfect, I'm now suffering from the same issue you mention. I'm still in the process of troubleshooting, my most recent suspicion being that ChatON (with the recent update) may be the cause, however I keep thinking this and keep being wrong.

Did you ever manage to solve your problems?

If either of you has the Att Voicemail Viewer app installed, that was causing me no end of freeze and re-boot trouble.

I had the exact same issue and narrowed it down to the AT&T Voicemail Viewer app (after a device swap and then a full restore, reinstalling one app per day). Took me several weeks, but finally identified it as that app. After uninstalling, I had no more issues. Just today, AT&T has posted a new update to Voicemail Viewer in Google Play that appears to have resolved the issue, so far at least.

most of the time it is an app causing the reboots try uninstalling some one by one, another issue is battery overheating as for my case when in 3G for some reason.

Goodluck :)

It caused me so much trouble I think I'll leave it un-installed for a while, even if they have fixed it. :)

I've had mine a week. No root no customization apps. It loops the reboot screen. I have pictures on here I can't lose. I'm baffled

I am using it since October, 2012. I have experienced few things about Note 2.
Fresh it runs like a Pro. After that even if you don't install any thing it keeps getting slower and slower. In spite of me using App Cache Cleaner, Clean Master, Easy Cash Cleaner, Mobile Care to get rid of all junk files and manually clearing cache and app data as well.

I have restored in these few months twice and installed every thing from scratch cause i love it when its speedy. The reboot/freeze issue i started to have as well from last one week. Generally i have noticed freeze after or during playing Need for Speed. Reboot i have experienced even when it is plugged for charge after a fresh restart as well.

I restored it yesterday and now haven't installed NFS. So far running smooth. Will update you if any change happens.

Safe Mode really helped me through all of my issues, but nobody seems to use it intentionally. It really helps you know whether it's a third-party app that is causing the problem.
