I have to give credit to this site for helping me with my initial problem: A couple of weeks ago my phone would randomly stop charging. It eventually got to the point where I had to hold the micro usb against the phone to charge it. After some searching, this site helped me deduce that it was a bad charging port.
I bought a new charging port from an ebay vender and replaced the port. All cables work with my phone again, but now they only charge in "USB mode" (aka slow mode), despite being hooked to the 110 outlet.
I have tried charging with the OEM charging cable, a Monoprice 6ft USB 2.0 5pin 28/24AWG Cable, and an old Droid X micro usb cable. The result is the same with all cables. This seems to lead to the mindset that the charging port is the suspect causing all the problems. Is it possible for a (knockoff) charging port to do this? Is there something else I'm missing here? Any help and opinions are appreciated. Thanks.
BTW, phone is not rooted, and has the most recent update (4.4.2).
