Note 3 Concerns / Questions

Hello,

I am excited about the Note 3. It looks amazing but I have a couple of questions / concerns and I am hoping the community can help put me at ease :)

1. Does it run hot? I have had 2 Samsung Galaxy Nexus devices and both of them often get VERY hot to the touch and as a result the battery dies in only a couple of hours (I've gone from 100% to 0% in 4 hours before) -- tried multiple batteries... I read somewhere that their Galaxy Note 3 was getting hot which concerns me. Btw, my nexus device has no games on it. It gets hot just sitting in my pocket when not on wifi...On wifi it rarely gets hot (but does it I start to use it lot).

2. What kind of glass is the Note 3 using? not Gorilla glass? I've seen a couple of drop tests where the screen just shatters on 1 drop... I know a cases can help alleviate the worry of dropping my phone (which i've done more than a few times with my nexus -- w/o glass breaking) but this phone is already big, it doesn't need to be even bigger with a bulky case around it. Also screen protectors in my experience really dim the screen taking away a lot of the vibrancy. Perhaps there's a good screen protector / thin case you've discovered?

3. Does it include LTE-A or not? Not so much of a deal breaker, but nice to know it has it. I know the G2 has LTE-A and i've seen it listed that the Note 3 has LTE-Cat4 (150mbs) -- is that the same as LTE-A?

4. I know both the G2 and Note 3 are great phone and I can't really go wrong with either one, but what made you want the Note 3 over the G2?

Thanks again for all your help!

1. Mine doesn't overheat.

2. Corning Gorilla glass 3.

3. Mine is the LTE version.

4. Note 3 has bigger screen, better UI, better build quality, it has 4.3 out of the box, among others. But initially I wanted the G2 and thank God I opted for Note 3.

Are you in a very weak reception area? If your GNex's LTE radio is struggling like hell to connect to a cell tower, that would explain why it gets hot and burns through battery where WiFi causes no such overheating.

I've read several reports that Note 3 (and a newer version of the S4) has LTE Advanced, but nothing directly from Samsung making that claim.

This Qualcomm page describes the Snapdragon 800 (the SoC used in the US versions of Note 3) supporting 150Mbps Carrier Aggregation, which appears to be an early implementation of LTE Advanced. I don't think any US carriers have such a network available yet.

Note 3 has a considerably larger display, S Pen, multi-window features, and removable battery (lack of which is deal-breaker for me).
