Help Note 3 discharging when plugged in

Hey, So my Galaxy note 3 is discharging while it is in the charger. I went to sprint and they had no idea what was going on. I ordered a new battery. Anyone know how to fix this issue?

If your charger is capable of a little less than 1200 mA (I've never seen an N3 draw more than that from any 5 volt source), and you're using more than the charger is capable of putting out, simple math tells you that you're not charging the battery, you're just discharging it slower. (Charge = amount put in - amount being used.) If you're using a cable other than the original, even if the charger is able to put out enough current, if the wires in the cable are really thin, the voltage drop in the wires keeps the phone from getting a good charge.

Other than that, the only problems would be a bad battery or a relatively high resistance short somewhere in the phone.

Use the original charger and the original cable and if it still happens ask Sprint for a warranty exchange. (Try it with not too much running. Turning on all the radios - wifi, data, Bluetooth, GPS - will add a bit of drain, and running half a dozen apps at the same time, especially with the screen on and bright, could cause a bit of discharge even with the OEM charger and cable.)

I've used a normal car charger with all my phones. None of them kept up charging while using GPS, maps, nav, Waze, and of course a full bright screen. That is, until I bought a dual 1 amp charger which provided a net charge the whole time. My dual 3 amp charger is coming in the mail today. But in the meantime, since I bought the n3, I've been using the 1 amp charger which still provides a net charge with a non OEM cable. I expect the OEM wall charger will provide enough charge while using the MHL hdmi adapter to watch espn on my big screen. One caveat I need to mention, I have to use a vent adapter to keep the phone from over heating.

See if the new battery sorts it, that will be your first port of call. A quick test is to check the battery for any bulging on either side, place it on a flat surface like a table and see if you can spin it on the spot.
