Note 3 Root, SHOULD I root my Note 3???

I rooted with Kingo, and my phone still says 0x0 (Knox counter) Also using safestrap and it didn't trigger anything.

No, it won't do. The Kingo method doesn't trip the Knox flag. However install a custom recovery to try and use your now gained root privilges for things like Nandroid back ups and flashing mods and it will trip.

Rooting in itself is only really a "half way house", and while some root only applications will be fine and work to do useful things you need a custom recovery flashing after rooting. This will trip the Knox flag.

I rooted to freeze bloatware. That's it.

You need to be careful though when you root if you have knox. If your knox counter gets flagged, your warranty is gone and there's no way to reset it.

I have rooted my n9005 recently how to know if I have tripped my knox?

Go into download mode and if you see 0x1 behind your "Know Warranty Void" counter then you tripped it

The one thing holding me back is losing out on the full 3 gig of ram being available in my slot 1 rom.

I rooted and eventually put on a Jedi ROM. Samsung still covers warranty work as they were willing to fix mine. My port went out. I think it just won't cover any software issues if you modify it.

Why would it effect RAM? I can see it effecting ROM, because each slot takes up as much as you give it, but the full amount of RAM should still be available for whichever ROM is running, including slot 1.

Absolutely right. I have and use over 100 apps so ROM is crucial.
What I wish (I might as well wish to be 18 again) is that Hashcode could figure out a way to keep an "app" area so that if you install an app, you can install the same app to more than one ROM. It would save a lot of space for people like us, who have page after page of app drawer.

What I usually do (and am doing on the N3 with Safestrap) is keep a copy of App Backup and Restore installed in every ROM, with the data area common on the SD card. Then if I need an app I seldom use, I can restore it, use it and uninstall it.

Too much pita for me. I root to make my life easier, not more complicated. For a long time I hoped that kingo found a way to unlock the bootloader. They were working on it at one time but I'm sure they've given up by now. I just don't want to bother with safestrap. After Kitkat will safestrap even work?

From a logical p.o.v I wouldn't root/custom rom my note 3 to potentially remove bloatware or system software because if you buy a device designed and built by a company you are also buying the contents of the device as well, so I think of it as that if I remove stock apps then I'm removing whatever samsung has given me along with the device. + it may or may not be difficult to re-add the stock app back onto the device.
I would rather just buy a unlocked un - developed device instead of rooting and potentially ruining an already very good phone!

This is not true. I rooted mine for one purpose only with Towelroot. Knox tripped. To get my Lillipop upgrade I had to reload a stock rom first so it would reset the flag and make Custom go away.

from what I gather...

rooting does not trip the Knox sensor.

I always have, and always will root my phone either the same day I bring it home or as soon as a root method is released. It's my phone and I'll use it how I choose to. Some of the bloat and adware they put on these things is ridiculous. It's not samsung doing it, in my case its sprint. I also have a few root apps that need root access to function.
