Help Note 3 Settings App gone

Hey guys

I have some serious problems with my Note 3. I do not have a Settings App on my phone, which means I can't do anything at all.

I was trying to get the S5 Settings look, and then everything went wrong. I should never have tried to do that, but... now it's done, and now I'm screwed.

I have tried to get the old settings app back, but all it says is "Settings stopped working" and now my phone is just trying to boot up, but is just at the screen with the "Samsung" logo for 15 minutes now.

What do I do? I have tried a hard reset but it's the same. Can I ever get my settings app back?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Sebastian.

Hi Sebastian and welcome to Android Forums!

First of all, I'm a bit confused when you say Settings APP. Is this a separate app, or are you saying that you can't access Settings at all? If a full factory reset won't restore Settings, then that means that the /System partition has somehow gotten corrupted.

If you're rooted and stock or know your way around Odin, you can always flash the stock OS again and start over. I have had to do it myself... it's really fairly easy.

Of course if you're rooted, you could try a custom ROM like HyperDrive 8 and retain all the Note 3's benefits without the downsides like bloat.

If you're not rooted, you should still be within the one-year warranty period and should take it in so the carrier or other seller can re-flash the stock OS.

Let us know your root status and provider... and maybe we can give you more detailed advice.

It's great to have you here :)

Thanks for your reply.

I can't enter settings at all. The icon is gone, and when I try to access settings from the status bar, it's just not opening.

If a factory reset does not remove root, then my phone is rooted.

I have tried to use Heimdall (I am on a Mac) to flash to a stock firmware for my Note SM-N9005, but somehow it won't get passed "Beginning session..."

Do I have any chance to get my Note3 back to life?
