Note 3 Three network LTE/4G

Hi,

For those of you with a Note 3 and on the 3 Network in the UK.

I was in North west london today and a symbol appeared on my status bar normally where it states HSDPA(Mobile Data) saying LTE?

Does this mean that The 3 network have now rolled out LTE/4G for its customers? I thought we were going to recieve a text stating they would be rolling it out?

When travelling back on the train towards Stanmore the signal reverted back to HSDPA so it must only be for inner london areas?

If anyone can confirm this roll out it would be appreciated.
 
In the USA most carriers tested LTE before announcing it. So the forums would get a heads up to the impending release
 
I'm off to get an EE4GEE sim at lunchtime so I'll let you know what theirs is.
Some carriers - o2 are just letting users migrate to 4g for free as I understand it.
I am getting a 4GEE PAYG to see what its like before I commit to a contract. I've heard EE is a bit patchy in the sticks so unless its obviously good I may just stay on 3g for another 12 months.
o2 is rubbish at my house but vodafone with their sure signal was excellent. However they are soooo far behond on 4g its unreal. Amazes me how EE ran away with it.

Is the ee frequency weaker than other bands? I'm sure I've read something about that....slightly off topic.
 
I think 4G coverage over Vodafone is excellent for where I live and work (live in and work in Sheffield) it was only the city centre and Meadowhall shopping centre back in October when I got my Note 3 and a 4G contract, now as Vodafone promised I get a very good 4G signal nearly everywhere in Sheffield and parts of surrounding areas.
 
Saw the 4G symbol popping up on my train into Kings Cross (just says 4G, no funny symbol)

Not had a 4g icon as yet but was told by someone in the know that T mobile would be automatically letting 3g customers use their 4g network in time, doesn't bother me tbh as I only use 3g at break times to surf etc, mainly use WiFi.
I think EE are better than O2 in my area, some places are patchy but overall I like them.
 
4g is the notification for EE.

Its strong in Swindon town centre but pants at my house in west swindon. I don't even get a signal unless by the window! I'm currently asking whether EE want my business enough to provide a signal booter :).

If not I'll go back to Vodafone on 3G and use their Sure Signal (which I already have) and wait until 4g comes in.
 
I'm with Vodafone too and they want a new contract and cash to upgrade me to 4G. Being that I live down south and would only get it when I travel into London, I haven't bothered to upgrade. Anyway, my contract expires at the end of next month and i'm probably going to go with Three from then on as it will be a third of the price and 4g at no extra cost. Vodafone coverage near where I live is patchy, so it's a no-brainer for me.
 
I went it to the local Vodafone shop yesterday enquiring about their 4g plans and they said this year... Probably, but wouldn't confirm. Told them I wasn't prepared to sign up on contract if they can be more specific... Bye bye Vodafone
 
That's the beauty with "3" - all customers get 4G automatically. Wonder how many EE customer renew with EE or change to the much cheaper 3-Network. Given that with the ONE plan for example, you got true unlimited data and tethering.
 
The new prices from ee are same as 3g I had on o2.
3 has no coverage locally and certainly not comparable to ee.
Shame the others are so far behind.
 
4G is still unstable on 3 I noticed. Get every now and barely any bars so it takes a while until the phone eventually changed to HSPA+, causing quite a battery drain. Disabled 4G for now (don't need it anyway. HSPA+ is as fast / slow as 4G here anyway).

Speaking of behind and a bit off topic, I barely get any reception at home (all networks) and broadband is barely at 3M down and 125k up.. Fibre not expected until 2016 ... Living in the bloody past here in my area.

I barely get a reception at home, maybe 1 or 2 bars max all the time but it was the same as O2, strange thing is I live on the top of a hill overlooking my town and in the town I get full bars and H+ all the time!
I do however have fiber and even though the cab needs updating, I still get around 60mb down speed (sorry m8 for rubbing it in) :)
 
Hi for those of you not getting decent reception at home like I used to have.

I rang Three and explained the situation about only getting one bar in the house.

They conducted a remote check and confirmed that I had little or no signal at all.

They sent me a Signal booster box free of charge(RRP 99.99) and now I have 5 bars all about the house. That might be a suggestion for those of you with a rubbish signal in your house!!

Just in case you're curious why, most cell antennas (the ones on the tower) shoot horizontally (if they're near ground level) or slightly downward (if they're on a high tower), giving coverage to the area they're trying to cover, and a weaker signal where you are, up above the pattern.
