Help Note 4 Firmware corrupt

So my note 4 crashed early today and when it attempted to reboot, it went to an updating screen and went into a boot loop.

I've gone into android recovery mode to attempt to factory reset it and it says that it failed to mount/preload because no such file or directory exists.

That would lead me to believe the existing firmware is now corrupt.

I am just trying to figure a way I can reinstall a new firmware onto it.

I have tried to load a stock firmware onto an sd card and apply the update from there but it gives me the error -- failed to map file

what other options do I have and how can I go about getting this device running again.

Thanks in advance!!

~~~ Matt
@KOLIO
Even when I plug the device in the smart switch app on my computer doesn't recognise that any device is plugged in. Now its just staying on the first samsung screen when powered on without trying to reboot.
Can you boot into download mode?
From off, press and hold the volume down+ home + power till phone boots and you are prompted to press volume up to continue.
Since you have Smart-switch installed on your PC, I can walk you through using it to reflash your firmware.
Go ahead and write down your model number and SN exactly as listed in your battery compartment. You will need it as part of the process.
Open Smart Switch and select MORE in the upper right corner.
Select Emergency Software Recovery and Initialization
Select Device Initialization
Enter Model Name( model number) then select search
Enter SN
If your device is supported, follow the rest of the prompts. Smart Switch should download the correct firmware for your device and flash it
@Jfalls63
Hey thanks for the reply. It says it's compatible. This is the only screen I can get to on my device.
You need to be in Download/Odin mode for flash to work. From device off, hold volume down + home + power till it boots, then volume up to continue. Should look like this
It should boot up normally after flashing with Odin or using Kies3.
When you use Odin, do you get a green Pass with no errors in Odin or phone?
It makes it to the second samsung screen with the flashin led light, stays there a while and then attempts to reboot and goes into a boot loop while saying recovery boot in blue font. and it does say pass yes
I cant seem to get it do do anything now, when i press the buttons nothing happens but when I plug it in it goes back to into the recovery boot loop. Ill leave it plugged in a while and see. maybe the battery is dead. Its just unfortunate it will be reboot looping
If you are going to have it on charge for a while, how about downloading 5.1.1 for your carrier and see if it will flash without bootloop
If 5.1 is successful, then try taking the OTA update to 6.0
Only other thing I can think of would be to try TWRP and a custom ROM.
How do I go about doing what you last suggested, I have tried going down in software, it successfully installs the new software but when it goes to restart it goes back to the recovery boot screen and loop boots. Ive plugged it into smart switch and it says the connected device is not supported.
Its back doing the same thing now, Odin flashes it, goes through the stages and then says pass. the phones switches to he recovery booting screen and then just loops and continues to do that.
I just get this. I turn it on, stays at this screen few seconds turns off and repeats until the battery dies
