Help Note overheating when on standby.

Hi everyone, as it's my first post here.
I'm new to Android smartphones for years I've been using Blackberrys and Nokia E series phones.
I got my Note about a month ago and everything was perfect with it until now.
2 weeks ago I've upgraded soft to 4.0.3 ver (Ice Cream Sandwich if I'm not mistaken)
I ran the battery till phone turned off last night and I've charged it overnight with phone off.
Just looked at Battery Status in settings and it's says Note is Discharging 55 minutes now and alredy 23% of battery is gone?! Also it got significantly warm what never happened before. Wifi is off, location services too, none programs are on or using 3g whatsoever.
Is it possible that it's a faulty model? Maybe I'm able to ran some battery/cpu benchmark?
Or shouldn't bother myself and claim my warranty?
Thanks for all replies
Cheers

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I have not personally updated to ICS, but I have been following the efforts of others. I would guess that you have something constantly running in the background using your data connection. Given that the phone is hot, it is likely to be a CPU intensive process.

So, not a fault of the phone or battery (as such) and therefore not a reason to return. My advice would be to work through some of the threads on this forum discussing battery issues with ICS. Follow the instructions within and I am sure that you can fix the problem and get your Note working again.

Hope this helps...

Regards,
Eric Ritchie.

Check the baterry temperature..The average is 25-30C when on stand-by,also download some app like advanced task manager or a task killer.Or if you got root check your Cpu(IF its working on the max some app may be using it)I personally have made my cpu to worn on 480mhz rather than 600mhz and my baterry life has expanded greatly. I hope i have helped :)

I have my note for 3 weeks now. I upgraded to ics a week ago and it was brilliant... What I was waiting for... 2 nights ago my battery died and when I charged the phone and restarted it, I got an error that twlauncher had stopped. since then' my phone has Been overheating constantly, reaching 49 degrees celcius lastnight. after some investigation and the removing of various apps, I finally got a break.... My battery has Ben at 26 degrees all morning and using far less battery than before. This is what I did:

1. Installed nova launcher free version
2. Opened the launcher
3. Pressed home button and selected nova as default (click the check box)
4. Open taskmanager and clear ram (this ends launcher)
5. Done... Just customize nova... I think its far better than tw.

I also installed advanced task manager to automatically kill tasks when the phone locks and I also got the battery info app to keep an eye on the temperature.

I hope this helps and works for you. I've yet to restart my phone but I doubt that it will go back to the way it was.

have restarted the phone 3 hours ago and the temperature has not risen at all.... its a cool 22C when in standby and a max of 29C when i was browsing the net, etc for half an hour.... alot better than the 49C lastnight
