Help Note reading text alerts, calendar alerts, etc aloud!!

This is driving me nuts.

I have gone through every setting I can find, and still the wretched phone declares who has just sent me a text!

How can I turn this annoyance off? Already tried turning off everything in text-to-voice, voice talk, google voice - don't know where to look next!

Shouldn't laugh but it does make me chuckle, the thought of your note going off while you are stood in a bus queue or somewhere equally as public
Mine was doing it but during the initial button pressing and exploring phase, i've managed to turn mine off. I have no idea how I did it though. The best I can suggest is that it has something to do with the voice talk is in Driving mode. To check
Home screen>double press home button>options>Driving mode on/off

Ah, you helped there. I misunderstood that grey button - I thought it was telling me that driving mode was off. There's no little symbol that tells you if driving mode is on in the notification bar. Usability? Grrr!
