Help Note won't factory reset (tried everything) Plz help

Hi,

Sorry if this has been brought up before, i'm new to the Forum, and i've looked quite extensively for a solution, but no luck.

So i've got a Galaxy note. gt-n7000.

I'm not sure what happened, but it will not factory reset. I've tried it from the settings menu, i've tried it from the recovery mode menu and it will not work.

The phone still functions fine. I can use all my apps, but if i change my settings or update anything it goes back to the old settings when i power my phone off and back on.

Example: i changed my password from a pin to a pattern, and when i turn my phone off and on it reverts back. Anything i try to delete off my phone storage, when i turn my phone back on its there again, pictures, apps, everything

Again, i've tried factory resetting every way i can, and it just wont work. Do i have any options?

I'm running:
Gingerbread .zsla2

n7000xxla4

I've tried flashing using Odin, got a pass, and it still didn't work. Phone turns on as normal. I've tried every factory reset option, i've completely re installed the firmware with odin several times, and everything is exactly the same, when i turn my phone on, just as though i've done nothing.

(used this to flash) http://www.theandroidsoul.com/xxla4-android-2-3-6-firmware-for-galaxy-note-n7000/ again got a pass, then turned on as if nothing happened.

Ive tried to factory reset from recovery mode and it doesn't work either.

i've tried *2767*3855# Full Factory Reset, that doesn't work. It says it worked and phone turns on as normal with the picture of my dog on the background.

I don't think the standard factory reset options will work, as i've tried most/all of them.

Its strange, its obviously not bricked too badly, as it still functions completely normal, but after i power it off and on it reverts back to the way it was. Nothing is saved, and it seems impossible to factory reset.

I think unusual methods will be required, any ideas?

You might try powering down and removing your battery for a few. Reinstall the battery, power up, and then try your factory reset. I hope this helps. Welcome to Android Forums.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I tried that. Still nothing.

I'm running low on ideas. Need to find a way to erase everything. So far its seeming impossible. My phone is format proof.

No matter how i try to delete/format/reinstall/restore to factory settings it turns on just like normal. Very strange, no one else seems to have had this problem, or found a solution that i can find.

Any other ideas?

As you're still on gingerbread, have you tried updating through Kies. You should have at least an update to ICS if not JB.

Do you have an external SD card, if so try taking it out. Not sure it's possible that it can cause your problems but worth a try:confused:

The only other option I can think of is to root your note and try a custom rom.

I think the problem is with the recovery. Not sure how to fix it though. Phone isn't rooted, so i don't think i can repair the recovery manually.

I tried Nand erase all, but it wouldn't pass in Odin. I'm out of ideas. I'm at work now, will try to root the phone and see what i can do. Anyone have a good link to rooting a Note running GB?

Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191

I've haven't got the Galaxy Note, my wife has but won't let me near it in case I root it:rolleyes:, but I have Philz recovery on my rooted S3. His method for the Note seems a lot easier as it seems like it's a single flash zip.

Just make sure you read through the threads thoroughly first and download the right zip.
