So here's a funny story. I'm going to grandmas house to set up her new dsl connection for her new voip phone. well she says she has a computer, so I don't bring my laptop. Well.. low and behold, computer doesn't even work. So instead of dricing 120 miles, I whip out my moment, and set it up with android!

-see, with android we have our choice of browsers. With our choice of browsers comes the ability to change our user agent to DESKTOP. Installation was a breeze, and her new dsl connection is working fine.

What do you mean by "choice of browsers comes the ability to change our user agent to DESKTOP"? I'm not really familiar with that area. Why cant the Safari browser do something like this?

Well with browsers you have something called user agents. what they are is how the aerver knows what browser your using, what version, etc. Well on the iphone browser, the user agent is identifies it as an iphone. That's how websites know your using an iphone. Same applies to all browsers. Well with dolphin and skyfre, you can change the user agent from 'android' to 'desktop' (skyfire uses safari macosx user agent lol!) Well the installtion kept saying my browser was "incompatible". Well I fired up the desktop user agent, and tried again. Bam! Success. AFAIK you can't change the user agent on mobile safari, and you can't download external browsers.
