Noticed something about the lag issues...

Are you guys talking about the actual full-screen weather widget, or the one with the big white clock?

The HTC clock/weather widget that sits on your main screen by default.

Aka, this one...

Last night I started having some really bad lag issues with the phone. I remembered about how the new update that is supposed to be pushed out soon had a lot of fixes for the weather widget. Seems HTC thinks its a pretty buggy widget, so I decided to remove the widget from my home screen and reboot the phone.
Since doing this, my phone has become significantly more responsive than before. Scrolling the home screens, bringing up the dialer, launching the photo gallery, all seem a lot snappier than before and it has behaved like this all day long.

So I thought Id pass this along so that others with lag problems could try it and see what kind of results they get.
Did you simply drag & drop the shortcut on the home screen into the trash, or did you uninstall the widget?

I ask because I merely removed this widget from my home screen and the lag is as long as ever. :(

If this is true, it's downright shocking. I'm receiving replacement number 4 because of the lag (which according to every CSR doesn't exist on any other phones).

I am working to move from this **** phone.

Yeah, that's what they kept telling..."Well It's odd but these are not known issues." We all know its a known issue and has been since day 1. I got them to renew my contract and am getting my X this week..They will give you a Moto Droid free replacement, but unless you threaten to remove your service, that's all they will offer you.

How did you get the Droid? They keep asking me to pay for it. One guy offered it for 599.......

Well the csr I had on the phone told me what I had to do. When you threaten to cancel service, Verizon management must listen to the recorded conversation, but if its longer than 20 minutes they wont. Mine was longer, so she let me in on some Info...when a rep hears a customer say they want to cancel service If the issue Isnt resolved, they are required to bring out the "safe list" which includes them renewing your contract. So I paid 199 for the x.

But before the safe list they will offer a MOTO droid 1 as a replacement. get on the phone, be polite but stern. You shouldn't have a problem getting something else!

I have to stay the one issue with my Eris that was really bugging me is the lagggggggg, especially around the dialing pad. But getting rid of the HTC weather clock has made me phone the fastest its ever been...Many thanks!

Yes, I just dragged and dropped the widget from the screen, however I also rebooted the phone (just power it off/on) to make sure its cleared from the systems ram.

You are welcome! Glad this has helped people out.

Wait if I remove the HTC clock/weather widget I lose the cool animation :(
I'm a sucker of when the weather is thunderstorms, and it animates the lightning :)
Does the other widgets do that?!?

Others don't do that, and I have to admit, that's why I keep returning to the Sense home after trying alternatives.

My phone seems better now too. Snappier. Thanks! I guess I can live without the animation. It is pretty cool. Also, thanks for the weatherbug suggestion. I never tried it before... very nice.

Lagos! Thanks for coming across this issue. I removed the weather widget and it appears that my ERIS will not be come a permanent fixture IN my wall.

When you say you removed it, do you mean, simply removing it from the home screen?
