Root Notification bar color

Is there any way to change the notification bar color without being rooted?

If not is it possible after rooting?

This is my first android...loving it so far btw

You can change it without root by using a different launcher that allows custom home screens, like adw, but that changes everything. As for leaving the stock motoblur launcher, you cannot change it without root. Once rooted you have to hack the framework files to change it; if it has been done, you will find the hack over at XDA.

Note I have not tested this and it can BRICK your phone and void your warranty if something goes wrong, plus you will not be able to update your phone when the update comes out unles you have a way to return back to stock.

Thanks for the response! I'm def not brave enough to try rooting...especially since I already updated software and was not rooted before.

Im currently using launcher pro and can not find a setting to change the notification bar...also tried go launcher and adw with no success...any suggestions on a launcher that will do this?

I think j101399j misunderstood your question about the notification bar up top... you cannot change that unless you are rooted... as it requires you to replace your framewrok-res.apk, which needs root/superuser(su) access to do....

Now, you can use ADW, Launcher Pro, Go Launcher to change your home launcher to replace the motoblur launcher... as that changes your docks and widgets... but not the notification bar as you are looking to do...
