Notification Customizable?

Hello Everyone,

I am using Galaxy for last couple days and if is a very good phone except couple things for me.

Is there a way to customize or add ringtones to the Notification Sounds?
This phone has lousy calendar which do not even sound noticification at or before appt time.

Any help is appreciated.
