Notification light?

I recently (earlier today) became the owner of a LG Optimus 2X.
For the last two years, I have been using a Nokia N900.
On my new LG, I am looking for something which notifies me in the morning that there is a new text message, and/or a phone call I missed, and/or a new email is waiting.
Is such a feature available? I have looked through the owner's guide, but could not find it.

I did a little searching and I don't see that your device has a notification light... .

There appears to be a root-only app that can turn the soft-keys into notification lights for you. Here's a video demo of it:
