Help Notification Light

mt-dew

Lurker
I had read that the AT&T version would come with no light but the physical light on the phone is there (at least it looks like it's there). I underestimated my value of having that silly light now that I don't. Anyone have any idea on future possibilities or upgrades to software through AT&T that would enable the light?

Shot in the dark I know.

If youre willing to root and use a custom rom then you can hang out and wait for them to implement bln for our version of the sgs2. That lights up the 4 screen buttons on the bottom and you can custom each one or so for different messages I believe. They already use this on custom roms for the international version of the sgs2 but our version doesnt have the physical button so they should figure it out shortly. Look up bln on google and you should see thread topics on it.

I havent tried noled as I fear the battery it would eat and I really want it for google voice sms, not sure thats doable.

When noled first came out I experienced some battery drain and overheating problems on the Captivate, but that was many versions ago. I have had zero issues with it on this phone. As a precaution I do set all notifications to time out after an hour, but I don't think that's really necessary.

I'm trying it since yesterday, just using it for gmail and gv and so far so good. I didnt know it was that customizable. I'll keep monitoring battery live with it.

Are you sure you're not seeing the proximity sensor? The front of the phone should have that and the front camera. Not sure if anything else should be there??

But if there really is an LED light that is simply not functional at the moment, that would be awesome..someday..

My phone has LED and I'm going to miss it. :( I get my SGS2 today!
