Notification light

Can someone help me. When i get text message or email the light on phone should come on but it doesnt. is this fault this phone. all options are selected

Just got my Hero today.....cool phone, but the message light only blinksfor about 5 minutes and then stops. Does anyone have any idea how to keep this going? I don't see anythingin the setting for how long to flash the message light for.

Are you talking about the Trackball or LED notification (right-side of the speaker)?

I am refering to the green LED on the left side of the earpeice on the top of the phone.

I don't think its suppose to light up.

It does... It is working fine for me... The green LED blinks whenever I get a new SMS, e-mail and even for Google talk...

It does? Are you sure its the left one or the right one?

The one which turns RED while charging and go GREEN once charging is done... the other side sensor is ambient...

All I had to do was update to the new ROM...

Yes! It works for me... And also, I never tried for any ROM updates.

Yes! Both LED and Track ball notifications go off after about 5 minutes or so... Looks like its one of the power saver option but, the bad part is we can not control how long it needs to stay.

The free app "Missed Reminder" in the Market can help you out with keeping the LED notification light blinking for missed calls/texts. It doesn't allow for making the trackball light blink, just the LED light at the top of the phone.

I've been using it for about a week now and have it set to keep the light blinking until I clear the missed event and it's worked great so far.

Also, the latest build of the SMS app Handcent now has a setting to make the trackball light on the Hero blink when you get a text. Not sure if it will keep the trackball light blinking beyond 5 minutes though...

Don't think so. I believe it only works for missed calls/texts/MMS.

How did you turn the trackball option on for notification?

It was working from the day since I received my phone and I haven't changed any of those factory settings. But here we can change: Settings-->Sounds & Display-->Notification flash. And select whatever you want.

I have tried changing my notification from the led light to the trackball but I can't find anything in "Notification Flash" that allows me to choose between the two.
