Help notification not alerting...

[potterdood]

So I noticed earlier that I was texting someone and didn't get a response, so looked at my phone and the led was lit up, but no notification ever alerted me. Sent myself a text, same thing, led lit up, no notification. Rebooted my phone and it's working again, has anyone had this happen before and how did you correct it, this isn't the first time I've noticed it, just thought I ignored hearing it.

Im not sure for the note 2 but on the Galaxy s3 whrn you pull down the notification symbol there is a widget that lets you turn on and off notifications Is it possible you had that clicked?

no, I haven't even seen that, when does that come up for you, once you receive a text?
