Notification: Phone Storage Space is Getting Low

I have just recieved a notification a few days ago saying the phone storage space is getting low. I don't understand why this notification has come up. I cleared all of the cache from the applications and it still remains. I have a decent amount of apps downloaded but I used to have a lot more downloaded and never had this problem before. Can anyone help?

just get rid of junk apps you dont use very often. after that, pull the battery, let it sit a minute or two, and then reboot.
