how do you change your notification ringtones? i know how to change the regular ones and i tried to change the text one but it doesnt give me an option to go look at my SD where the sound file is located at? anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

you need to create folder called "notifications" on your SD card and put the tones you want there. That's the easiest way.

but it doesnt let you go to your SD card to look for sounds. as opposed to your regular ringtones its on the music player and you get the option to set that as your regular ringtone or a ringtone for someone. the sound file i want is playable on the music player on the phone but it i just cant set it for a notification

Make a folder with a file manager in the sdcard called media.
Inside media make 3 folders called:
alarms
notifications
ringtones

for each tune you place in any of these folders will be displayed in the proper ringtone selection. Say you place FireAlarm.mp3 in alarms, when you change alarm ringtone, FireAlarm.mp3 will be displayed on the selection. Ditto goes for notifications and ringtones.

Note: FireAlarm.mp3 will only be displayed in the alarm selection pop up. If you want them in other selection pop ups, copy them into each of the 3 folders...

just tried the whole folder thing, its not coming up with my notifications, worked well with my actual phone ringtones but not the notification ones

What I had to do was go into the text message menu and start to send a text to myself or anyone else but i put my own number as a way not to send something to anyone else then hit the notification button and go to attach then go to music and select the song you want to use and select what part of that song you want to use then save it and you should be able to select it from the settings sounds notifications menu.

Look for Ringdroid in the market.

One thing to look out for...If you tell ringdroid to set a ringtone or notification...at least on my phone, it only held the setting until reboot.

It happened 2 times..then I just went into the setting and just selected it manually then it stuck.

I found that app and I installed it and picked the tone I wonted for my notifications and the tones it makes want work. :(

I assume you mean won't work???

As I stated before. Mine worked fine until reboot. After a couple of times if setting it via Ringdroid, I just went to the normal ringtones and notification area and it set it permanently.

Which file manager app should I download because the above did not work with androzip. I went yo media, created the three folders first copied everything into those folders, then once I saw it didnt work I tried moving them. In zipdroid it says successfull move/copy, but doesnt show up. My phone is a day old so it should have the latest update. I couldnt find that lg update app that the other person used.

I can get ringtones I've made onto my phone but their stored in music and I don't want it in there unless thats the only option (which I doubt hence the above.) What am I missing? Tx

You will will needed to install the LG drivers from LG website LG Android USB Device driver for the optimus M - LG Forum there are 2 sets of drivers I used the (LG _USB _Drivers_All_4.9.7.exe) and if that doesn't work trey the other one called LGMS690.zip when installing the drivers do not have you're phone plugged in you're computer. and the first time you plug in you're computer it make a a few mind for the computer to be recognize and one it is recognized there will be a mass storage button that shows up on the phone click that and the will will be able to use the phone like a disk and follow the steps with the folders ones more from doing it from you're computer and then restart you're phone and they should show up. I hope this makes since use replay if you need anymore help.

I tried to do this and it didn't work on my phone :( I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to change the notification sound to a different one withouth having to do all these steps LOL. I have a LG Optimus M and I've used the Zedge ringtone app before that was a while back, now I forgot how to change the notification sound.

Please help! Thanks!

Okay, I don't know how I managed to change the notification sound before but I use the Zedge ringtone app on my phone and when I tried to change the sound, it wouldn't work. Do I need to reset my phone or something??? I've used this before and it worked but I forgot what steps I did to change the sound. If anyone knows, please let me know! Thanks!!

all you need is the files you want to add ...and root explorer...put the files somewhere easy to find on ur sd..use root explorer.to move the files to system/media/audio then u will see ur system sounds..notifications, ringtones, alarms...ect just move the sounds u want to the specified location if it says read only system u forgot to hit the mount rw button at the top... o yea when ur done dnt forget to remount ro
