The notification shade seems to have disappeared from my Galaxy S3 (Verizon). Anybody have an explanation or a fix? I'd be grateful for your suggestions.

Ooops. It appears I wasn't always starting the drag down from the very top of the screen. If I make sure to start at the status bar, it seems to work. My mistake, and thanks for pointing out the right way--and doing it so quickly. I had about decided it was a Verizon conspiracy. What happens when you drag down the statusbar?
Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think I have any Yahoo apps on the phone, but I did suspect Verizon was messing with me. However (see above), it appears I was the one doing the messing....https://www.google.com/search?q=android+notification+bar+missing has some interesting situations, not the least of which is that removal of some Yahoo! app resolved the problem for one user.

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't been sure I wanted to use a launcher, but I'll take a look at it, and the other one too.i use Nova Prime launcher and have it set up so the status bar is hidden on homescreen until i swipe my thumb up the screen slightly to make it appear/disapear. I have notification panel set up to appear when i slide my thumb down the screen (from any point in the screen) and i find that a lot easyer, especialy on a large screen where your thumb has to stretch to reach the top
(Other launchers can do the same thing. Go Launcher is a free example)![]()
