I use "ringdroid" and made a MP3 ringtone and a notification tone.
Market has it free.
mp3 seems to work best just drag from you pc to music file. Had to play around but got it to work.

Glad it works for you.
I had a tough time getting my "Tarzan" ring tone and my "Wizard of Oz"("pay no attention to that man behind the curtain") notifier working
Had to convert from wma to mp3 and wav to mp3.
