Notification sound volume

This is kind of related to my alarm volume thread. When I get a notification of new emails, SMS messages, etc, the sound is far too loud. In fact, it often wakes me up at night when a new email arrives in my Gmail. Is there a way I can reduce the volume of the notification sound? I can how to set the type of sound in the Settings menu but can't see how to change the volume of that sound.

You can turn the notification volume down using the volume rocker on the phone. If you want to change certain things, check out "Audio Manager" in the Market. I think that lets you change just email/text notifications vs ringer volume.

if you're running 2.2:

menu > settings > sound > volume

you can set the notification level to your preference.

aye you can either use the rocker volume buttons at the side or use audio manager.it lets you customize all your notifications and ringers

Sound Manager is free, and allows you to set the volume (and even time schedules, like quiet at night, loud at 9-5) for every instance. I had a look at that app today, but i ended up staying with Smart Volume Free. I've been using that for some time. It is able to LOCK the volume for each instance, so you cannot magically change them in your pocket.

You can also set your phone so that the alarm will still go off if it's in Silent mode

Go to the clock app then press
Menu ---> Settings --->and tick the box that says "Alarm in Silent Mode"

That way you can put your phone on silent overnight so you're not disturbed by incoming alerts but still get woken by the alarm when it's time for that to go off in the morning.

Other than that yeah.....download an audio manager from the market. I use Smart Volume Free like some others here and it does the job.
