I have a particular MP3 file that I would like to set as my Notification (incoming text) sound rather than use the pre-installed ones. Does anyone know how I can set this MP3 file as my Notification sound?

Thanks

on the SD card, create a folder called "Media" - without the quotes.

Then inside that "Media" folder, create folders called, "Notifications", "Ringtones", "Alarms". - again, without quotes.
Now, if you want to change your message tone, put your .mp3's in the "Notifications" folder, then open your message client(the little green icon on the home screen), press the menu touch sensitive button(lower left under the screen), select "Settings" then scroll down to Ringtones, and just change it there.

This can be done for main notifications, for emails, Calendar, messages, and you can put mp3's in the Ringtones folder and set them too, in the main phone settings screen, and you can change the tones for just about everything.

Thanks for that I assume when you say SD card you mean the micro SD card that's in the phone?

As an aside I note that the micro SD card in this HTC Wildfire is 2GB capacity one and has (I think) all the phones files on it. What happens if I want use a larger capacity micro SD card because I want to put more music files/videos/pictures on the phone?

Thanks

You will have to copy all you files on your (micro) SD card to your computer, then put your new (micro) SD card into your Wildfire then copy those files back to your Wildfire
