Help Notification sounds, Messages vs. Email.

I cant get my notification sounds the way I want them. No matter what I do the "default" sound over rides all. Id like to have email and text as a different noise.

How are you going about changing the notification tones for txt and email? Which apps are you using for those? For texts, I've used both Handcent and GO SMS and both allow you to set the notification sound to something different than the default notification set in Setting>Sound. The Gmail app also lets you select a different ringtone. And those work for me. Not sure about the stock messaging and email apps since I don't use those.

If you are using a 3rd party messaging app like Handcent or GO SMS, make sure you disable notifications in the stock messaging app.

If the sounds are set in the apps and the default is still what's played, there must be some setting somewhere that is overriding the app, but I haven't seen anything like that though. I'll try to dig around and see if I can find something later.

That is probably where my problem lies. I am using the stock gmail app, and GOsms Pro. I recently rooted and I dont think I told GOsms to disable the default notification (this time around).
