Help notification sounds not saving

I have separate notification sounds for gmail and for SMS messages. However, when I turn my phone off at night then turn it back on in the morning the gmail notification has reset to Silent and the SMS tone has reset to default tone. Any help greatly appreciated. I am on Android 4.1.2
This issue is still happening even though I have now upgraded to Android 4.3.
This is getting very annoying now. Dont know if its the phone or the OS.
Issue now happens when I turn the phone to Silent then back to normal.
Any help or advise would be appreciated.

has this only happened since updating the firmware?
Ive read a lot of people saying the phone would "forget" certain settings after getting Jellybean. For me it was screen timeout setting.
Think the only cure is a factory reset man

Just an idea.. if u dont wana reset, maybe if u get the Light Flow app and use that to handle notification sounds..
